An emergency meeting was held on 15 May, 2009 in the Assembly Secretariat Chaired by Mr. Kiramatullah Khan, Speaker Provincial Assembly of NWFP regarding the IDPs. 

 

 

The Chief Secretary, Mr. Javed Iqbal Khan briefed the Members about the situation in SWAT and the position of the Government was statistically highlighted. He also answered the MPAs concerned and encouraged them to visit the areas where the IDPs are located and requested them to give feed back to the Governemnet for necessary Improvement.

Mr. Speaker Summed up the discussion by sharing his grief and solidarity  with the IDPs and offered full support to the people suffered.

He Thanked  the Prime Minister of Pakistan and the Governemnet of UAE in particular who have been regularly contributing huge amount to the people of NWFP and in the hour of need such as Earth Quake, Floods and the IDPs

 

In this regard, on the 8th May, 2009, the Khalifa bin Zayed Charity Foundation announced to deliver urgent humanitarian assistance for the deplaced people in Swat. The Assistance package consistes:

 

          1.     50,000 Sacks of flour (2 Kgg per sack)

          2.     40,000 Blankets

          3.     4,000 Tents

          4.     2,000 Water Tanks

          5.     5,000 Floor Mats (rugs)

With regards to Mr. Speaker's struggle for IDPs and other social issues, he has also been regularly inviting and meeting with delegations from Turkey, China and other friend nations

He has been making rigorous visits to Mardan, Sawabi, Shah Mansoor and other Areas where the Camps have been set up for the IDPs.
